The preliminary consultation
To avoid having too high or unrealistic expectations, these are discussed with us during the consultation that precedes the surgery. A thorough eye and eyelid examination is also performed. We should also be aware of your complete ophthalmological and general medical history, as well as any medications you are taking.
Surgery day
The surgical technique obviously depends on your physical characteristics, and on the amount of skin and subcutaneous fat tissue to be removed. Therefore, no two procedures are truly comparable, even if they involve the same procedure.
Once you arrive in the surgery room, a felt-tip pen will mark on the skin which part of the skin may be removed and where the prominent fat pockets are located.
Then the eyelids are numbed with a few punctures along the outside and sometimes along the inside. This can be slightly sensitive, similar to the anesthesia you undergo at your dentist. Afterwards you will feel almost nothing of the procedure.
The follow-up check
The day after the procedure, we always like to see you for check-ups, if only to rule out post-operative bleeding or incipient inflammation.
The sutures can be removed after 5-7 days. You will be given an appointment for this at the consultation. If you wish, your family doctor can also remove the sutures. After the procedure, a letter is always sent to your family doctor so that they are perfectly informed about the procedure performed.
